Pointed Ponder: Holy Spirit To Peoples

God bestows the gift of the Holy Spirit along with repentance leading to eternal life to those in all nations, peoples, and races who believe in Jesus Christ sincerely.

Acts 11:16-18

16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ 17 If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?” 18 When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

Pointed Ponder: Weeping? Only Sleeping

When Jesus explains a person pronounced dead is sleeping, besides being poetic about our Lord’s power over death, the life is restored without the person’s soul meeting Moses or running around heaven in a new body yet.

Mark 5:35-36

35 While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”

Mark 5:39

39 And when he had entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.”
