Knowing God does not allow us to get tempted more than our ability imparts hope to look for the way out.
Case 1: When successful, this a reason to Thank God.
Case 2: When falter, this witnesses against us to our guilt, and our need for forgiveness. Do not stop the journey at forgiveness, otherwise could repeat similar missteps.
Both Cases:
Reflect upon one’s own character weaknesses and behavioral defenses to both acknowledge weaknesses yet to also seek to fortify the defenses.
- Do not limit yourself to your own ideas.
- Seek also more advice from scriptures and learn from who those who previously faced similar temptations who shifted gears successfully.
If tactically certain situations too challenging, then may consider ways to avoid those situations.
If there exist early warning signals can pick up during emerging situations, then can take countermeasures sooner.
Depending on situations, exiting could be best, or other ways to shutdown & shift gears & change directions, obtain reinforcements, or shine transparency lights when appropriate in appropriate manner.
The goal to bring out the best in ourselves and others and fortify our character along the way.
1 Corinthians 10:12-13 English Standard Version (ESV):
12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
