God knows when the heart is right, yet circumstance interferes with formality.

2 Chronicles 30:18-21

18 For a majority of the people, many of them from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than as prescribed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, “May the good Lord pardon everyone 19 who sets his heart to seek God, the Lord, the God of his fathers, even though not according to the sanctuary’s rules of cleanness.” 20 And the Lord heard Hezekiah and healed the people.

God desires us to do what is right, for the right reasons by faith, even when facing unrighteous treatment, like Jesus and the early Apostles and followers modeled, reflecting and reinforcing an internal character approaching God’s heart, keeping eternal rewards in mind.

Hebrews 10:32-34

32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.

The key to the Lord being with you is continually trusting him with a devoted heart from which flows obedience to the Lord’s commandments.

2 Kings 18:5-7

5 He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel, so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him. 6 For he held fast to the Lord. He did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments that the Lord commanded Moses. 7 And the Lord was with him; wherever he went out, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and would not serve him.
