The mature know our role is to press on to be like Jesus as we play our part to faithfully follow that we walk in the way always guided by God to travel in the truth as we proceed on the path to love the Lord in our lives, dancing our steps as the future bride to be to embrace Emmanuel eternally.

Philippians 3:12-16

12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

How many Bible lessons are by counterexample? King Rehoboam teaches by counterexample that the proper role for rulers of the people who obey God is to be for the people as their servant, a legitimate way to obtain affirmation of their authority by the people.

1 Kings 12:6-8

6 Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he was yet alive, saying, “How do you advise me to answer this people?” 7 And they said to him, “If you will be a servant to this people today and serve them, and speak good words to them when you answer them, then they will be your servants forever.” 8 But he abandoned the counsel that the old men gave him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.
