Celebrate the World’s Savior:

Christians celebrate the coming of the Savior of the World, the Son of God, who is Jesus, the Christ.

Who is this World Savior Jesus?

Jesus is God and is the Son of God, and was with God the Father and the Holy Spirit when Our Universe was created.

John 1:1-3 (ESV): 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Genesis 1:1-2 (ESV): 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

World Savior’s Nature:

Jesus has the same character (the same nature) as God the Father.

Hebrews 1:3-4 (ESV): He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

World Savior Reveals:

The only way to know God the Father is through Jesus the Son, who reveals the nature & essence of God. God’s Bible scriptures testify to the eternal life that Jesus offers.

Matthew 11:27-28 (ESV): All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

2 John 1:9 (ESV): 9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

John 5:39 (ESV): 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,

Savior Lights Our World:

Our Savior Jesus Christ shines spiritual light towards people, with the goal for us to walk a righteous life.

John 8:12 (ESV): 12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Savior’s Virgin Birth Prophesied:

Many generations ago, prior to Jesus’ birth, Isaiah prophesied Our Savior Immanuel (God with Us) Jesus’ birth will originate via a virgin birth.

Isaiah 7:14 (ESV): Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Savior’s Virgin Birth:

God sent the Angel Gabriel to Mary, who admitted she was a virgin while she was formally engaged (betrothed) to be married. The angel Gabriel revealed this pregnancy would result from God’s Holy Spirit intervention in her womb.  Scientifically this bears similarity to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) techniques.

Luke 1:26-33 (ESV): 26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. 30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

As per the Universe Tools Paradigm (see https://bibleopia.wordpress.com/2011/11/21/bible-genesis-creation-account-universe-tools-paradigm-comparison-literal-creator-days/), it clearly follows God capabilities to make Mary pregnant while she retained her virginity. The virgin birth is the simple part, as even today’s science a couple of millennia later are able to create virgin births using techniques like In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The challenging portion is creating a baby that will have the exact nature of God. This was divinely orchestrated by the Holy Spirit starting in the womb.

Luke 1:34-38 (ESV): 34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” 35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. 36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

Savior’s Purpose:

Our Savior’s purpose was live a perfect life without sin, and then to die as a payment for the world’s sins. This perfect life was unjustly crucified as the payment Jesus uses to pay for the sins of his repentant followers.

John 12:27-36 (ESV): 27 “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” 30 Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. 31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die. 34 So the crowd answered him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” 35 So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”

Savior’s Death:

The Savior Jesus laid down his life to die as a payment for the world’s sins. Consider this parallel to the love a Father has for a child, or that a husband has for his wife. It was the sin of the world that put Jesus in the situation of having to die on the cross, and the love of God for us, that brought Jesus with tears to be willing to die on the cross. Jesus’ death was a voluntary offering.

Luke 22:39-46 (ESV): 39 And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. 40 And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

Savior’s Resurrection:

When Jesus was on the cross on a Friday, Jesus indicated that the repentant criminal would be with him that night in paradise.

Luke 23:39-42 (ESV): 39 One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

Using the Universe Tools Paradigm as a lens to examine scriptures (see https://bibleopia.wordpress.com/2011/11/21/bible-genesis-creation-account-universe-tools-paradigm-comparison-literal-creator-days/), it follows that God the Father brought Jesus back to life in paradise (in Heaven) that very Friday night. Even before Jesus was in Heaven (in paradise) that night, Jesus knew he was granted the power to raise back up his physical Earthly body on Earth on the third day, that Resurrection Sunday.

John 10:16-18 (ESV): 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me,because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

Acts 2:22-22+2 (ESV): “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God withmighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. 24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.

On the third day, that Sunday, Jesus’ followers were not expecting Jesus to rise from the dead, despite God’s Son instructing them on this matter prior to being crucified & dead & buried.

Luke 24:1-8 (ESV): 1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” 8 And they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

Jesus’ resurrection was back to a regular human body that could see, touch, taste, and eat.

Luke 24:36-43 (ESV): 36 As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37 But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate before them.

John 20:24-29 (ESV): 24 Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” 26 Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” 28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Jesus appeared many more times to his disciples, even to more than 500 people at once, in which his resurrection was an eyewitness event that was recorded in history.

Acts 13:30-31 (ESV): 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

1 Corinthians 15:3-9 (ESV): 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

As we remember Jesus’ coming into our world, recommend you use your reason along with the Universe Tools Paradigm as a lens to examine scriptures (see https://bibleopia.wordpress.com/2011/11/21/bible-genesis-creation-account-universe-tools-paradigm-comparison-literal-creator-days/), to better understand what God was doing.

Disciples of Jesus the Son of God are given a privilege to request gifts from God, and know God will in time grant them.

* What is best for us to pursue when we ask, seek, and knock? Spiritual gifts.

* For what to ask? Ask God the Father for more of the Holy Spirit of God.

* What gifts does the spirit bestow? The spirit bestows gifts like wisdom, knowledge, faith, love, tongues, healing, prophesy, miracles, and more, as the spirit sees fit.

* What doors to knock on to be opened? Doors to reach the lost? Doors to know God further? Doors to understanding? When you knock to have God open the door to good gifts, go through and leave a trail to show the way.

* What’s our responsibility? Do our part to ask, knock, and seek in faith with appreciation for appropriate gifts to use for purposes that align with God’s will.

The Three GuidesThere are two sets of Three Guides in the visual on the right.  Life presents us with many challenging circumstances to figure out what to do. Consider “What does God guide?“. God provides an instruction manual called “The Bible” and a conscience too, to guide us through life. The Bible teaches the One God consists of three distinct persons of one character:

  • Father
  • Son
  • Holy Spirit

The Three Guides God Father Son Holy SpiritThrough Jesus Christ, the Son of God, believers in God extract guidance from his words and life. After ascending to Heaven, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to provide further lifelong guidance to believers. God the Father watches over all creation, and ensures there are always right ways to handle any circumstances, including all temptations and tribulations.

What further guidance does God provide, when there is latitude on how we are to act?

God provides three more guides through our life:

  • Wisdom
  • Love
  • Faith

Jesus’ teachings, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and elsewhere in the Bible contain numerous insights on how the Wisdom Guide is to be used. To have insight, understanding, knowledge, and discretion to pick the wise course of action is a benefit and a blessing throughout life. Consider “What does Wisdom Guide?

The Three Guides QuestionsGod commands us to Love God totally and to Love our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus demonstrated that love by willingly laying down his life as the perfect payment for our sins. The Love Guide is a powerful driver of positive change, leading many to support others emotionally, spiritually, and physically throughout life. Consider “What does Love Guide?

The Bible instructs us that the righteous live by faith, and showed many living out their faith fruitfully. Faith guided King David to defeat the Philistine Goliath, Ester to save the Jews from Haman’s death sentence, Daniel and his companions to triumph over death sentences by lions and fire, and Jesus’ disciplines to spread the Gospel message widely around the world. The Faith Guide enables believers to stand up to seemingly impossible circumstances, and come out victorious, forgiven, and healed, thanks to God’s interventions. Consider “What does Faith Guide?

The Three Guides Work TogetherThe Love Guide, Wisdom Guide, and Faith Guide are meant to all work together to enable us to make proper decisions. Consider Queen Ester’s defeating Haman’s evil genocide plans. She loved her people the Jews, so she wished to save them all. Wisdom lead her to consider the timing and manner in which to appeal to the King. Faith lead her trust in God as she risked her life to intervene and appeal for the life of her people.
