The Bible wisely advises Christians to:
- apply & acknowledge the Wisdom of God over their own understanding to make their paths straight and to turn away from evil
- embrace Steadfast Love and Faithfulness deep in one’s heart & character as they trust & follow Jesus intimately like the early apostles
This leads to success & favor with both God and people when lived out properly.
- What does this success & favor look like?
- What worldly views of success & favor are not meant here?
The Three Guide Characteristics of Success and Favor are:
- Wisdom of God
- Steadfast Love
- Faithfulness

Proverbs 3:3-7 (ESV):
3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
Hebrews 1:1-4 (ESV):
1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
3 John 1:11 (ESV):
11 Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.
2 Chronicles 15:1-4 (ESV):
1 The Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded, 2 and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. 3 For a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest and without law, 4 but when in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.
2 Chronicles 17:3-5 (ESV):
3 The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, 4 but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel. 5 Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor. 6 His heart was courageous in the ways of the Lord. And furthermore, he took the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
1 Corinthians 11:1 (ESV):
11:1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
