People often wonder whether Christians can know the Lord God from their youth. The answer is yes, and Jesus welcomed youthful inquiry and approach, revealing children’s thinking and being is receptive to the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 19:13-15

13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away.

God instructs us to have an open heart towards him, removing the stubbornness and obstacles within our control, so when we hear his word, it will be fruitful like the seed sown on good ground in the Parable of the Sower.

Jeremiah 4:3-4

3 For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem:

“Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns. 4 Circumcise yourselves to the Lord; remove the foreskin of your hearts,
O men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn with none to quench it, because of the evil of your deeds.”
